Roxette Charm Tour Concert (May 9th)

A lot of South Africans always moan about the lack of international artists coming to visist the country and by how poor the state of the local inustry is. Which is very unfair and largely prejudiced, because anyone can find fault with things around us.
The band Roxette was definately an exception to this with their recent concert at the Grand West Arena in Goodwood, Cape Town. The whole event was marvelously well organised out and superbly managed. There was more than enough parking and the staff were very helpful and informative.

Many people will know of this Swedish band from the 1980s and also know a number of their hits, like "Crash, Boom, Bang". The band was definately in fine form and had an amazing performance set up for the audience, which was evident right from the beginning when they came on stage.
They don't look exactly the same now, as they did in this photo, but then who could expect that... Times change and people mature. However, the core of their performance was still exactly the same and that was what the crowd reacted to. You really could hear the years that they have been together and like the Eurythmics, they will definately continue to stun audiences for many years to come.

The Housemates were instantly enthralled by the songs that all of us remembered from not so long ago in our heads (though it was a lot longer in real life). We all sang along to the words that some how reappeared in our memories, as if they had never disappeared and for a couple of hours we felt like the years had turned back.

What can one say about such a classy band that really puts a lot of performers from today to shame, as there was still a lot of artistry in their songs and very little techno-wizardry from the producers: like with current artists like Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and many others.
We all hoped that the current bands would try and learn something from this veteran band with its strong work ethics and level of perfection.

The Easter Party (April 24th)

Well, as expected, the annual Easter Party was eagerly awaited and almost surely destined to go down in living history as legendary... Inquiries had already been received as early as March in regards as to what the theme would be and I had spent a lot of time thinking of a party theme that would really stun everyone. This is because the "Tahitian Wedding" theme of the Valentine's Day Party had been so extraordinary that undoubtedly many people were expecting something truly out of this world!

Anyway, it was with great pleasure that I announced that the theme would be "James Bond's Adventures" and several people already sent messages to book certain characters from the movies and novels, which was a lot of fun in itself... There were a number of guests that wanted to come as anyone of the actors who have played the role over the years and understandably had their favourites. Shimbavi, as usual, decided to play Octopussy, Torquay immediately booked PussyGalore (for obvious reasons) and Kimberly decided on playing Solitiare. Brianna wanted to play Allota Vagina from the Austin Powers movies, which would have been hilarious, but reluctantly agreed on playing Honeychile Rider.

i had a lot of work to get someone to cater the occasion, as there seemed to be a lot of private functions going on that weekend, which kind of reduced the available options. However, I did manage to get a company to organise a spread for the party, which had a wide range of dishes for the guests. The Alcohol selection was the most important, knowing the guests that were booking and so the company agreed to put on a full bar with all the beer and liquor that would be needed.

The big day arrived and all of the Housemates disappeared to get their costumes ready and also the necessary beauty preparations. This allowed me to organise the initial beach party social for all the guests at Maiden's Cove just to the right of Camps Bay with the surprise entrance of mine that I was planning.

At 4pm, everyone had arrived at Maiden's cove and were awaitng the start of the festivities, when suddenly a Sean Connery look-alike came screeching around the Clifton peninsula, pursued by two other speedboats and a couple of jet-skis. James Bond dodged and avoided the attacks of the SMERSH assassins before careening full tilt up through the surf and beaching his jet-ski on the sand, as he handed the keys to the awaiting lifeguard, saying, 'Becareful of her... She knows how to kick when you least expect it!'.

Of course, it was all a staged performance, but the guests really enjoyed the melodrama and they were kept on their toes when the Bond Girls parachuted out of the sky from a low-flying aircraft! The First to land was Octopussy (Shimbavi) in a platinum jumpsuit with an elaborately designed Octopus logo stenciled on to it. The next was Solitiare (Kimberly) in a breathtaking torquoise catsuit with all of the voodoo patterns to make a priestess proud. Then came in Kissy Suzuki (Mei-Li) on a kayak dressed to kill like a Japanese pearldiver with her basket of seafare. Then out of the sea stepped a vision to make Aphrodite jealous, as Honeychile Rider (Brianna) surfaced wearing little more than a smile. Finally, the aircraft did a tight banking turn and landed on the sea in front of us, before taxing up to the beach. Out of the passenger door hopped none other than Pussy Galore (Torquay) in a fiery red jumpsuit, which she ripped off to reveal a scanty bikini of the same color.

So that was the introduction to the evening, which left more than a few surprised looks on the face of the guests and quite a number of shocked looks on the faces of the local residents. The five Bond Girls then started trying to subdue Sean Connery in their own inimitable styles, as several of the locals whistled and voiced their encouragement.

Nonetheless, the Superagent spurned their attacks and defeated them repeatedly until they were all helpless at his mercy... Octopussy was hog-tied on the sand, Solitiare was crouched clutching her catsuit to her naked body, Kissy Suzuki was trying to cover her nakedness with some palm leaves, Honeychile Rider stood bound naked to a nearby palm tree and Pussy Galore tried her best to bury her completely naked body in the sand!

The whole group then hurried from the beach to the awaiting cars that were going to take them up to the house and the Inimatable Bond ushered the blushing captives into a limo, as a score of youths and locals whistled and made catcalls.

Once ack at the house the guests chuckled, as the limo arrived with the topless Bond Girls hanging half out of the large side-window and grunting repeatedly, as the intrepid James Bond had his way with them all. Of them all, Kimberly was the most scarlet faced, as she had to jog hurried through the guests to get herself dressed again. Torquay was the next to make the mad dash for the front door, as the blushing Mei-Li crouched in the doorway to deal with some urgent personal business and both Brianna and Shimbavi raced headlong for safety...

The Housemates all rejoined us some minutes later, in their costumes, as the guests sipped champagne on the deck at the back of the top floor. There was a lot of laughter and joking around, as the ladies all replied to the guests compliments. It was quite humurous how the housemates had all been subdued so easily, despite the fact that there had been five of them against me...

The Party was soon underway, despite the early daylight hour, as several of the guests and their partners got into conversations with the Housemates. Before we knew it, the Easter Meal was being served (and no it was a "Last Supper"...) of delicious Cape Malay Cuisine with side-dishes of Indian Curries (including atchar). For the uninformed, Indian atchar is very similar to fruit chutney, but spicy and hot...

After the meal, we all sat back and talked while a number of poeple began dancing, which involved most of the Housemates as well. As the afternoon wore on, the guests started getting into water-fights with the Housemates, who repeatedly ambushed several people from time to time, whenever they got the opportunity and even I had to have a go at Brianna and Kimberly with their water-pistols.

Before things got too out of hand, I got everyone to gather around for the Best Costume Competition, which was a riot of fun, as the Housemates really hammed it up! It was a close call, as to whether Ernst Stavro Blofeld and Else Klensh from SMERSH or Scaramonga or Goldfinger and Pussy Galore were the best dressed, but Blofeld won in the end. Then it was the turn of the Bond Girls and the panel of judges was really in a quandry as to whether they liked Octopussy or Vespa Lynd or Honeychile Rider or Pussy Galore or Mary Christmas more... Though eventually, under duress, they chose Octopussy (Shimbavi), which really made her day! The Final Competition was for the Best James Bond and that was just as contentious, as there was a lot of competiveness from: Pierce Brosnan's "Devil may care"; Sean Connery's "Kiss & Kill"; or Daniel Craig's "Vitruvian Man"... After several rounds of voting, the judges had to progress to knock out rounds of judging with the Bond Girls joining in with the Bonds that they appeared with and that finally broke the deadlock, as Sean Connery took the prize! But then who could stand up to Sean Connery's James Bond, especially with the calibre of Bond Girls that he met?

By that time, the sun had started to set and we got the paintball competition underway with the guests competing against the Housemates and one or other of the James Bonds in a Gladiator style obstacle course, which was simply incredible! It was a riot as the SMERSH team tried to take out Sean Connery and Failed dismally... Then Scaramanga (the Man with the Golden Gun) got ripped to shreds! In the end, it was the three top James Bonds that faced off in a sudden death pistol combat that had everyone either cheering wildly or ducking for cover! The Score = Smersh: 3; Scaramanga: 5; Peirce Brosnan: 7; Daniel Craig: 4; and Sean Connery: 15!

After that everyone went back to dancing, while the combatants (victors and vanquished) headed for the Jaccuzi or the Suana with various Bond Girls and Villianess' in tow. Yes... I know. You all thinking that here they go again on another round of sexcapades, but then it really wasn't what we all had in mind, as the competiitions had been very intense and a lot of us were sore or stiff. And No Not In That Way! And Yes... It was a clothing optional case in the Sauna and Jaccuzi... A real Bacchanalian Flesh Pot!

Taste of the Cape Show (April 7th)

This was a much anticipated event in the Cape Town Social Events calendar, as it was the showcase medium for the Cape Culture and tourism. It was eagerly expected by al the housemates and I who were wanting to get in early this year.
There are not many conventions in the Cape Town area that focus on the food of the region, which is a shame, as there is so much for any person to explore and discover that such an event literally could become and all day affair...
The range of food on offer was incredible and truly above any banal criticism of the local newspaper journalists. The range of Curries and spicy Malay dishes could grace any Parisian Restuarant with aplomb! Though one would be advised to go slowly on the Malay Dishes, as the chillies and hot spices can turn even the cast-iron stomach into swiss cheese!

The one thing that the Housemates really enjoyed was the variety of spectacularly coloured candies and other craft items of offer! The panorama of all the colours in the rainbow being displayed was astounding and left all of us dumbstruck.

It seems that Cape Town has finally found a way to dazzle spectators that truly expresses it's vibrant cosmopolitan lifestyle... The layout and organization of each section was superb and really enthralled all of the ladies.

The site on which the event was held this year really was a great choice in that it was not too crowded and had the adequate support facilities. Additionally, the surrounding area had more than enough parking space to deal with the expected crowds.
The Lighting and Information facilities were excellent and really were on par with ant world class event any where in the world!

We were all very pleasantly surprised to experience the thoroughly professional behaviour and expertise of the organisers and their staff, which didn't drop the ball once over the entire event!
As you can see, Torquay had an amazing indepth discussion with one of the servers, who was very well informed and very good at explaining several complicated elements at that section.

Please bring the event back, as it was so enjoyable that Cape Town could use it every three to six months!

Cape Town Long Street Carnival (March 19th)

Oh Wow! What A Spectacular event and what a showpiece for Cape Town and South Africa as a whole. All of the Housemates and I were eagerly awaiting the First Annual Cape Town Carnival on the 19th of March and we made sure that we were there early in the evening!

Man, the first major hassle was to find parking in the City Bowl, as we had to come all the way from Camps Bay and there wasn't any public transport that could get us safely into town and back... Eventually, we settled on parking at the Cape Quarter and walking up to the start of Long Street, which was already crowded with people waiting for the parade to start. There was barely a centimeter's space to move anywhere and the crowds were packed like sardines. which meant that it took us the better part of 45 minutes to get up to the spot that we had planned to watch from.

We eventually had to squeeze up a narrow staircase to get to our spot and luckily, we were still able to get access to the bar area,\ or we really would have been in trouble! As it was, we quickly found out that there was one major snag that we hadn't foreseen. there was only one tiny toilet for nearly 150 people! And both Kimberly and Brianna needed to go when we got there! Man... That was the first time that I have seen any woman so desperate that they were
willing to pee in a pot-plant in public or even prepared to hang their butts out the window! And they were not the only women, who were dancing around to another beat... Fortunately, the others housemates did not have the same problem or it would have gotten ugly pretty fast.

The Parade started just after sunset and what an absolutely incredible sight to behold with the full riot of colour and the dazzling performances of the dancers! The floats were stunning and very creatively designed, which made more than a few people around us gasp in amazement and bewilderment at the sheer magic used in their production! the costumes were also very elegant and very well made!

We were really surprised by just how much work had gone into the parade, the costumes and the floats! The music accompaniment to the individual sections of performers was extremely well organised and planned out...

Additionally, we were pleasantly amazed by the competent security contingent that was responsible for mantaining order in the Long Street area, which at the best of times can be worse than any of the Wild West towns of American history... The Street lighting was also very effective and more than adequate to showcase all the different aspests of the parade for the spectators.

The experience of the Long Street Parade was very entertaining and well worth the effort of travelling into the centre of Town after sunset and I would honestly recommend it to anyone, based upon the fact that it was on the same organisation level as any other around the world! Alright, so it didn't have the massive numbers of participants or the brilliant costumes of Brazil... But then in this case, sometimes less actually feels like more!

My Score for the Parade:     5* Overall         4* for the Costumes       5* for the Floats
5* for Tertiary Organisation      4* for the Parking Facilities

Cape Argus Cycle Tour (Mar 13th)

What can anyone say about the Cape Argus Cycle Tour that everyone doesn't know already! It has all of the lovely panoramas and scenery that one has grown accustomed to seeing and then there is the spectator support that many competitors also enjoy...

The Route this year was exceptionally well organized and signposted, which made it a delight for competitors and spectators alike. Following the usual route around the Peninsula, the competitors had to brave the vicious onslaught of the Cape Doctor (Southeaster), which gusted at manic speeds, causing chaos in some areas and disappearing completely in others. Though one has to feel sorry for the competitors struggling to pick-up speed for the uphill climbs, I think that the spectators got the worst of the gale like conditions and one Eurasian woman had to quickly duck for cover when her skirt was ripped of in the strong wind, as several people whistled!
The predawn start was a hassle, as thousands of competitors gathered to await the start of each individual section of riders and several complaints were heard about the lack of toilet facilities for the competitors. Which really was bad and in one place had a mammoth line for the portable toilets, resulting in a dozen of them having to inconspicuously hide themselves behind any available shelter in order to relieve themselves.

Fortunately, once the sections were underway, the cyclists charged of in a hurry to get out of the jostling madness that is common with these timed trials and luckily, there weren't any major collisions where anyone could get hurt. As the groups headed around the side of Devil's Peak, they started the thin out, as some went on ahead of the packs. Fortunately, many were prepared for the strong winds that suddenly appear around Hospital Bend, which any serious accidents or injuries...

A frequent feature of the Cape Argus is the numerous service sites along the route in which volunteers stand ready to hand out sachets of water and energy bars for the contestants to resupply their needs at. It was also very nice to see that there were a number of spectators that made themselves available to assist riders in trouble. Way to go people! Show that Ubuntu Spirit!
The long lonely stretches of the route were very tiring on many of the non-professional riders, as the uphill stretches and relentless shallow climbs can burn the calf muscles deeply, as well as the mind!

For many of the competitors, it must have been a godsend to see the welcome stretch of famous beach that is at Camps Bay and they all made that final push to build up momentum before the shallow but intense climb over Victoria Road, which then brings you around into the western end of Sea Point.
The route then took the screaming down to and along the Beach Road, as they made the final dash for the finish.

It was very nice to see some familiar faces taking part in the Argus this year and one of them was the famous Gabriella Sabbatini of professional tennis fame, who took part with one of the local teams. It is nice to see that she hasn't completely disappeared off of the face of the Earth and I know that a number of the spectators cheered boisterously for her when she was introduced to the crowd over the speakers.
May she come back soon and continue her adventures in South Africa!

Neil Diamond Concert April 12th

What a magic way to spend an evening, but in the company of a legend! most people would think that Neil Diamond would have lost all relevance for today's society, but it is definitely not so!

The Cape Town Stadium was once again in top condition for the international artist and the safety/security forces on duty were more than competent in ensuring an enjoyable experience for all of the concert goers. The only problem was that the streetlights on the stadium side of Main Road in Green Point were not working, which plunged the final stretch of the FanWalk into a funereal gloom that could have been very dangerous for the fans of Neil Diamond, as well as being a public relations nightmare! The City Planners need to get their proverbial thumbs out of their butts and rectify this problem in future on the same night...

There was a lot of people that knew the words to his songs and it really made for a pleasant, cosmopolitan atmosphere with all the spectators singing along to Neil Diamond's Hits like: Sweet Caroline; Cherry Cherry;and many others.

Unfortunately, the concert was over all to quick and many had to reluctantly make their way out of the stadium, as the buses were leaving! Hopefully, he will return soon, as it was far to quick!

Community Chest Carnival Wynberg (Mar 3rd)

Twilight photo of the Carnival site.
Wow! As you can see the annual Community Chest Carnival this year was stunning and it was like a fantasy wonderland, as you could see the lights from a kilometer away!

Though the queues to get into the entrance were massive, as at least 50,000 people had turned up for the night-time festivities, which created horrendous lines running halfway around the side of the Carnival park. You could hear the sounds of countless people inside shouting and enjoying themselves...

This year is the 80th year of the Community Chest Carnival and you can see how the event has grown exponentially over the years. Though the site hasn't got any bigger and if things keep on as they are, the organisers will soon have to look for a bigger location!

One can only guess at the amount of planning and investment that must go into this Carnival each year, as I don't envy them their job! most people forget that there are a number of auxillery requirements for an event of this size: Security, Sanitation, Emergency Services, Police, and Volunteer. Very few people (if any) ever thank these people for doing a good job, which is a shame...
Housemates enjoying some of the food

One of the first things that we all did was to go around and try some of the various food delicasies on offer at the cultural pavilions and the housemates had their favorites: Thailand, Greece, China, Mexico and the new Brazilian (with its exotic South American dishes and spices).

All of the housemates dressed up for the Carnival in bright red dresses and outfits, which really looked dramatic and Shimbavi's sister's tight red capri pants had more than a few men ogling her...

Giant Climbing Wall
One of the newest features of the Annual Carnival was the 5-storey Climbing Wall, which really tested the brave individual's skill at scaling a free-climbing wall bare handed with only the strength of the arm muscles to support them. As usual, they had a few different routes with various difficulties and gradients for the climbers to overcome.

Brianna, Kimberley and I all gave the wall a try with varrying success, as we got competitive with each other. Brianna with her athletic biuld was very quick and agile, clinging to the wall like a bat. Kimberley was not as fit, as either Brianna or me and so only managed to scale the easiest of the routes. I had more muscle mass than Brianna, but still I was not nearly as agile as she was with her higher endurance level. And as you can see, she actually beat me to the top of the two of the difficult routes! Embarrassing...

Food Stall Worker: Unsung Heroine

Afterwards, we were all thirsty and stopped for some cooldrinks at one of the nearby foodstalls, where we met a very helpful worker named, Primrose, who actually went out of her way to find the coldest cans available for us. And we made sure to compliment her to her supervisor, as these workers get paid very little for working the long hours that they do and they deserve all the credit that they get...

Housemates & Me inside entrance
All of the Housemates then gathered together in the one open area to decide on what they wanted to go and see first, as there were so many events and spectacles that it was actually hard to make a choice!

In the end, we decided to go and see what acts were on the stage, as several well known artists were scheduled to appear and perform during the Carnival this year. Being that it was also the 150 year since the arrival of Indentured Labourers from the Indian Subcontinent, there was also a celebration of the Indian contribution to South Africa.
Delightful Indian Dancer

I was actually stunned by the performance of the one Indian dancer, who had the whole audience enthralled with her dancing. I was amazed by her ability to move different parts of her anatomy to the beat of the music and even follow two or three beat rhythms with her arms or legs. Not easy by anyone's standards!

She is actually a professional dancer, who has performed overseas, which becomes all to obvious when you see the greadth of her repertoire. I can only guess at how many years she has been practising her dancing skills.

One of the many delicacies on offer
After that we went around to many of the cultural pavilions and started watching the entertaining ethnic performances that were being put on by local civic organisations for the benefit of the general public, as well as enjoying the various foods that were on offer at these pavilions.

The Chinese pavilion had a whole array of events planned and there were a number of young women dressed up in Chinese traditional costumes that walked around in amongst the carnival patrons. The six dances that were done on the stage were amazing and really got the crowd involved with the whole experience.

Two of the roving entertainers
This was just one of the many random entertainers that strolled around the whole carnival site keeping the atmosphere of the event electric as well as fun...

This pair are a short King Neptune and a beautiful Siren of the Deep, who had the crowds laughing with their antics. They were actually very good entertainers and definately knew their trade.

Kimberly & Brianna
Kimberly and Brianna split off from the rest of the group after we left the Chinese Pavilion, as they wanted to go to see another friend at the Irish Pavilion. This was a former schoolmate of Brianna's that she hadn't seen in ten years.

I was surprised in that I hadn't known that Brianna went to St Cyrprion's girl's School in Cape Town. This was because my sister, Michelle, had gone there at about the same time as Brianna and probably knew her or was aquainted with her in the strict Catholic school. At the time, Sister Agnes was the most popular of the teachers there, though the Principal at the time, Sister Margetta, was almost universally feared by the students at the all girl's school.
Shimbavi's Sister & Mom

Having Shimbavi's sister and mom spend the day with us was very interesting and very informative, as they told us all about her childhood in Durban. Which was really entertaining for us, as we heard all about Shimbavi's antics in High School and about how many times she got in trouble, as well as several embarrassing situations. Shimbavi was very embarrassed about her family's revelations and I bet that she would rather have forgotten all about that period of her life! Apparently, our Shimbavi, the Housemate, has always been a bit of a wild-child at heart! Though, I wonder just how far her adventurousness stretches, as some of the stories were really surprising...
Lines for the Portable Toilets!

The only complaint that I really heard about the Community Chest Carnival was that the toilet arrangements had been woefully inadequate, as usual, which necessitated people queueing up for an hour or more just to get a chance to use one of the portaloos! In all fairness, I think that the organisers only planned for just over five thousand or ten thousand visitors to be in the Carnival Site at any one time. However, after all of these years you would think that they have figured out that four areas consisting of a total of 100 portaloos will never be enough to cope with odds of 50 or 100 to a portaloo! With the length of the
One of the ladies who braved the toilet lines...
lines that were present at all the toilet areas, it was definately more like 200 or even 300 people to a portaloo! The woman in the second picture had to make use of a secluded spot between the portaloos and the outside fence of the Carnival, as she could not wait any longer (and she had already waited 72mins at that moment already!)...
Nearly all of the Housemates were complaining bitterly about the ordeal of having to wait in the hope of eventually being able to use one of the portaloos sometime the near furture...
This is the one thing that the organisers definately need to get sorted out, as it is a major headache for the women, who have to wait for

One of the many Performers
+-300 other women to go first and it is really embarassing for any woman to have to squat behind the portaloos in order to relieve themselves!

However, a major compliment must be given to the organisers for arranging for the wide variety of performers on the Central Stage, as it was really exciting to see such a broad spectrum of South African Society taking part in entertaining the crowd and it was great to see that the South African Youth were also included for a change!

Overall I would give this years Carnival the following scores:

Variety of Entertainment = 5* Culutural Informativeness = 5* Security = 4* Organisation of Auxillery Facilities = 2* Planning of Charities = 5* Layout of Carnival = 3* Organisation of Crowds = 4*

The U2 360 Concert at Cape Town Stadium. (19 Feb)

What an amazing experience it was to finally be able to see the famous band in Cape Town, as for many years there really hasn't been venue in the Atlantic Seaboard area and that has left the whole of Cape Town at a loss... This is the major benefit of having had the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa: greater facilities for events and an improved organisational skills of both the city and security structures, like the police.

The Cape Town Stadium had been set up for the concert to deal with 66,000 spectators and even I was surprised by the turn-out in the center of town, as there were literally mobs of crowds thronging the FanWalk.

There were myriads of people filing along the route from the Cape Town Station, as a couple of African dancers performed for the crowds and vendors tried to get the people to buy their merchandise (especially, the U2-360 t-shirts). As we got to the pedestrian-bridge that carried the fans over the busy Buitengracht street, we encountered the first bottleneck, as everyone tried to file up and over the bridge. There were a number of people taking fotographs of the crowds and the scene in front of us.

When we got passed the bridge, we found an amazing scene were a local DJ was playing U2 songs over an impressive sound-system, which had a lot of people stopping to watch the monitors, as the video footage was displayed for all to see. About 50m, there was a local cover band on the roof of the one petrol-station, who were playing a number of U2's more well known hits: Mysterious Ways; Staring at the Sun;With you or Without you; In the Name of Love...

After that there was a big area of restuarants and shops that were making a killing out of the concert event, as they had a prime location directly on to the Fanwalk, which was absolutely packed to the gills with fans.

When we finally got to the Stadium, we found that there were thousands of people squeezing through the pedestrian underpass towards the front gates and with all of the beers that were drunk on the way, there was a bottleneck for the half dozen portaloos available. We followed the crowds through the railings and then up into the Concession Area, before we made our way up to where our seats were situated. I was more surprised that the organisers had managed to keep all the fans under control, as the layout was more complicated than usual, because of there being 10,000+ people set out to be in the Standing-Room-Only area around of the stage. There easily had to be over 66,000 people inside the Stadium, as there wasn't an empty seat to be seen anywhere and still more people coming in!

At 8:30pm (roughly), U2 came out onto the stage and got the concert started with a bang, as they launched into one of their current hits from their new album. The noise from the crowd was incredible and without the massive speakers, no one would have been able to hear anything at all!

I could see that Brianna, Torquay, Su-Tze and Mei-Li were awestruck by the level of the performance that they were witnessing and Even Shimbavi  and Kimberly were dumbstruck by the atmosphere inside the Stadium, which was on par with a number of the other U2 concerts that I have seen overseas in Montreal and Los Angeles.

The ladies were completely enthralled by the U2 songs, One Life and U2's cover of "Stand By Me", which had all 66,000+ people singing along in unison. That was amazing, even for me, to hear thousands of people singing with one voice! I don't know what the Johannesburg concert was like, but the Cape Town Stadium left an indelible mark on both me and the ladies, because of the incredibly exciting music and atmosphere...

Brianna and Torquay were completely mesmerised by U2's In the Name Of Love and there were visible tears in theire eyes, as they listened to the voice of Bono. I was really happy that they had been able to experience this U2 concert, as they will remember it for a long time!

The Valentine's Day Pool Party - "Tahitian Wedding"

Brianna on Verandah
Su-Tze In Girlish Glory
Mei-Li in Bikini top
Kimberly on Bike
Shimbavi at her PC (Trawling for Women)

The house was a riot of activity in the early afternoon, as the caterers delivered the food and the barmen organised the bar area for the party. The women went off to the beauty salon to get themselves made up for the night and I ran through the progam for the party once more.

Just after lunch, Torquay phoned to say that she had a friend from Mauritius, who wanted to come and stay at the house. I said that I would think about it and get back to her later... Torquay asked if it was alright if Kimberly came along tonight and took part in the party. It was alright, but I don't always like gate-crashers at parties, because they just create problems.

By late afternoon, the house was ready for the party and I went off to get some presents for the women. This proved a bit of a hassle, as the selection was a bit thin this year. Which resulted in me having to go all the way out to a shop at Century City to find a good selection. I stumbled across a nice shop, which rented out party costumes and chose five sets of polynesian-dancer outfits and then I phoned Tony (a college friend) to see if he couldn't locate some South Pacific Dancemusic for the party and he said that it would be a pleasure. I think he had a hint of what I was planning, but then Tony has always been a sharp brain...

Spent an hour trying to sneak the presents into the house and had to send Brianna and Shimbavi to the Pick'nPay to buy some more tropical fruit, even though there was enough. They may have realised that I was sending them off on an needless errand, but they didn't have a choice.

Just after five o'clock Torquay turned up with her friend and I had to do a double-take, as I didn't believe my eyes at first. This Kimberly was a real stunner and worked for the Mauritian Tourism Office in Cape Town. I could see the reason why in less than a second, as she could easily have lead a guy up the garden path and down again! I chatted to her and asked her about herself, which was interesting, as she is a real chatter-box!

Kimberley's Stats:
26 yeras old; shoulder length black hair; Dark brown eyes; 1,95m tall; 55kgs; light complexion; 36BB; French speaking; likes racing bikes (750cc or higher); has completed her degree in Tourism from UCT while working in the Local Mauritian Tourism Offce; likes 80s pop music, especially Brittish bands.

Kimberly really is an interesting woman with a keen intellect and a lively sense of humor, which only adds to her charm. I found her conversation captivating and soon we were chatting away like good friends, which is a nice change from the vacuous bottle-blondes that you tend to encounter in Cape Town. The most amazing surprise about her was that she was quite a consumate Flirt with all of the usual eye-lid winking and demure blushing cheeks. I never even noticed that Torquay had left us alone, presumably to let us get to know each other, which was rather considerate of her...

Kimberly has quite an interesting life story from growing up on Mauritius, which has achieved far more integration than South Africa has even tried to attempt! In a way, I envy her having grown up in such a unique society, which is a mixture of French, Indian, Malay and African cultural influences that have been expertly blended together.

I really enjoyed chatting to her and the longer we talked the more we both warmed up and became involved. We sat there talking about a whole range of things and I got us some drinks, as we sat on the couch.

Surprisingly, I soon found myself in a rather amorous position with Kimberly stretched half over me, as she spoke of her girlhood in the capitol and within minutes, we were making out like old lovers. As you can see, from the photo on the left, she is very attractive physically and has quite a gorgeous ass!

Well... The situation only got embarrassing about half an hour later, when Brianna, Torquay and Shimbavi returned to find us naked on the couch with Kimberly hanging over the back on her stomach and me hammering away. I haven't seen so many red-faces in a long while!

Torquay was dancing around, as she tried to get passed Brianna with Shimbavi squirming behind her. Apparently, both Brianna and Shimbavi had gone for some coffee at one of the coffeeshops where Torquay met up with them. The problem came when both Shimbavi and Torquay needed to use the ladies loos at the shopping-mall only to find that it was out of order. Which forced them to leave and head for the Cinema hoping to use the loos there...

Unfortunately, both of them got caught short, as they found a bunch of schoolgirls waiting inside already. What followed was hilarious in that Brianna had to try to sneak the two of them out, despite the fact that they were both bareassed. Even Kimberly had to laugh, as she looked at the photos that Brianna took of them (which you can see on the left) and I said that I would put the photos up on the blog, as it was to unbelievable if you couldn't see the photos. Man! The women must have been really embarrassed to have to ride home bareassed and they said that they still had to cover themselves with Brianna's Volvo's Sunscreen when a taxi pulled up next to them at a trafficlight!

Torquay and Shimbavi hurried off to the showers to get cleaned up and I showed the others the costumes that I had gotten for the Party. They all giggled and said that the outfits reminded them of Hawaiian Leuau dancing costumes. While I was waiting for Torquay and Shimbavi to get finished in the shower, Mei-Li Came home and chuckled at the story about what happened at the shopping-mall.

Well by the time that the other people started arriving for the Party, all five women were in their outfits and had some cocktails to drink, as they circulated around with the new arrivals. The barman had come up with a range of tropical cocktails like: Patrons (tequila + coffee); Bacardii Breezers; Tequila Sunsets; etc...

By 5pm, there were roughly about 100 guests at the party and everyone was complimenting the five housemates on their outfits. Tony then stared the dance music and Kimberly showed the ladies how the dance went.

Soon a number of the guests were clapping and cheering Kimberly and the four other housemates on, as they gyrated to the sound of the South Pacific music. I must say that it was really amazing to see just how graceful Kimberly was at dancing, because see was so good that one of the guests commented: "Those hips definately don't lie!".  To which I replied: "And those breasts are quite spectacular as well...".

As another round of drinks was handed out, the housemates and a couple of the female guests took part in a hula competition to see who was better at dancing while keeping the rings from falling to the ground. It wasn't as easy as most people would think, because a couple of guests were knocked out pretty quickly and within five minutes only Kimberly, Shimbavi, Mei-Li and one young Malay woman were left. I was cheering along with all of the other guests, as I could see that she was wiggling her butt off and trying to keep up with Kimberly, which was very hard! Surprisingly, Shimbavi was the next to fall out and I hoped that Mei-Li could keep going, because you could see the sweat dripping off of her body, but her hips were getting tired. A minute or two later, the young Malay woman stumbled and fell, as her hula ring fell to the ground and that left only Kimberly and Mei-Li left. Man! Mei-Li was really putting her heart into it, but Kimberly was a natural at this and I could see the strain in Mei-Li's face, as she almost stumbled twice. However, in the end Kimberly completely outlasted Mei-Li with her stamina and Mei-Li had to concede defeat!

All of the exurtion had really taken the strength out of Mei-Li's body, which was shaking like a leaf and I had to help her walk to a chair. In the meantime, some of the other people at the party started taking part in one of those Limbo constests, though I think that Limbo is a bit lame.

After that most people ended up in the pool, whether they were dressed or not, which might have been the effect of all the Bacardi rum! When I got back Mei-Li was missing and I had to go look for her, as I was worried if she was alright... Couldn't find her in the house, so I checked downstairs, but she wasn't in the entertainment area either... I did find Torquay with one of the party guests in a very compromising position, not that all of the grunts and groans left anything to the imagination!

On the way back out, I spotted a dark-hiared woman crouched in the shrubbery and, to my surprise dicovered Mei-Li avidly watching Torquay getting screwed. The flushed look to her face was priceless and I had to chuckle, as I snuck up on her. I gave her a fright, but it soon descended into a playful wrestling match, before we got into an amorous clinch as well. I can now see the attraction to why people enjoy a good romp in the garden. Though getting covered in leaves and dirt can be a bit of a downer afterwards...

As we were about to exit the shrubbery, we both heard somone shuffle hurriedly into the plants next to us and we had to giggle, as we realised that it was Shimbavi taking a chance to quickly relieve herself. Shimbavi got upset and said that it wasn't her fault, because someone was locked in the toilet upstairs and seemed to be having sex...

Turns out that she was right, because Brianna came out two minutes later with a very flushed face and her dancing outfit all in disarray. Damn... And the next woman complained that there was a nasty funk inside, as she gave the guy a dark glare.

Anyway, half an hour later, we were all eating the Polynesian & Thai style food and chatting away excitedly, as Kimberly played some dance music from Mauritius. The food was amazing and even I had to admit that I was surprised, because I have become rather bored with ethnic food.

It was about an hour later that Shimbavi hurriedly excused herself from the feast and jogged out of the entertainment area. Needing to visit the loo myself, I headed up stairs only to find Shimbavi dancing around in front of the locked door. After aminute, we both knocked on the door, as all of the Patrones (Tequila&Coffee Liqueuer) where effecting me and it became obvious that someone was getting themselves off inside again. It was then that Shimbavi couldn't wait any longer and rushed out of the house, but I found her on the verandah watering the pot-plants in a way other than normally expected. I scolded her for that, as it is the one cardinal rule that I have with the housemates: Not to use the grounds as a toilet. (It costs me around R2500 per month to employ a gardener to take care of the plants and some of the plants cost me a fortune!). She apologised and offered to make it up to me, but as it wasn't the first time that she has done this I wasn't very impressed at all! She must have realised this and pushed me down on to a deckchair. Next thing I know, she has perched herself in my lap and riding me bareback, as I tried not to have a stroke!

Well... When we got back the feast was nearly over and Shimbavi had a very red ass, which caused some of the others to laugh at her. Mei-Li returned looking very sheepish and moaned that she had an accident in the passage outside the toilet door, which was gross. Fortunately, she said that she cleaned it up... I asked her if she knew who had been hogging the toilet and she said that it was Torquay with one of the guys! I will have to speak with her and Brianna about that, as it isn't a very nice thing to do. Especially, when there are a lot of guests that may need to use the toilet!

I was surprised to find that Su-Tze had slipped into the party sometime ago and I introduced her to Kimberly (the new housemate) and got the impression that Su-Tze was more than a little bit jealous. That is one of the inherant disadvantages of having a house full of women, sometimes the petty rivalries and dirty tricks that get used...

Anyway, as the night wore on (past 2am) and the alcoholic drinks started getting to the guests, a few of them either went home, crashed on the couch or got friskie in the pool. It gave me a chance to talk to Torquay about her antics in the toilet, but however, she was interested only in having a make-out session in the shallow end with me! Around the  same time, I spotted Shimbavi and Brianna humping each others thighs on the Poker Table (again...), which got a round of appluase from some of the other guests! To my surprise, Kimberly and Su-Tze started get intimately entangled in the shrubbery with the associated moans from each of them! It was such an erotic sight that I ended up giving Torquay's ass a real hammering, as we both watched the two pairs of women grinding away at each other like drunken rabbits...

At around 4am, I had to drag a comatose Torquay from the steps of the pool and put her on one of the pool-chairs... Brianna and Shimbavi were also wasted (in more ways than one) and Kimberly had to laugh, as a couple of the male guests were jack-hammering away at them from behind. Both Mei-Li and Su-Tze were astonished by the carnal debauchery that the party had decended into. I just chuckled, as I smacked their bums, saying, 'This is what happens on Valentine's Day parties, when the summer heat is on and people are drinking tequila slammers!'...

I then said, 'There is a great way to end of a Birthday party for me... With both of them coming to join me in bed for a "menage trois"!'. They both turned a bright shade of crimson and giggled like schoolgirls (Chinese women always sound that way), as they guided me into the house.
